Former UCD striker helps Rovers sink Students
UCD 2 Shamrock Rovers 4
Former Student Andy Myler scored a hat-trick as Shamrock Rovers moved to within seven points of leaders Drogheda United in second place in the Premier Division table.
College stunned Rovers to take the lead - after just 46 seconds.
Conor Kenna's cross wasn't dealt with by the Rovers defence and they found themselves tipping off for the second time in a minute as Connor Sammon stabbed the ball home.
Rovers were level on 13 minutes, though, when topscorer Tadhg Purcell slotted home a penalty after he himself had been fouled by Kenna.
Myler punished a defensive error to score his first on 52 minutes to put Rovers in front and then added a second with a header 16 minutes later.
The hat-trick arrived on 85 minutes from Rovers' second penalty of the night.
UCD got a second consolation goal from Conor Fitzgerald a minute from time.
