John Tierney hit a late winner to see First Davison Limerick past non-league Douglas Hall in a thrilling FAI Ford Cup third round replay at Turner's Cross tonight.

In a rip-roaring cup tie, Limerick survived twice via their woodwork, missed a penalty and had Ross Cosgrave sent off before Tierney struck for the only goal of the night on 88 minutes.

A mix-up between Hall keeper, Adrian O'Donovan, and defender Joe McSorley gifted the ball to midfielder Tierney who shot home.

Hall's Brendan O'Connell rattled both posts on 53 and 61 minutes before the Munster Senior League side's O'Donovan brilliantly saved a Kevin Waters' penalty three minutes later.

Limerick winger Cosgrave was then sent off for a second booking on 79 minutes ahead of the late drama that saw Douglas Hall knocked out.
