Carr and Reid return for Ireland

Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton welcomed long-term injury absentees Stephen Carr and Andy Reid back into his starting line-up for tonight’s friendly at the NRGi Park in Aarhus.

The pair, neither of whom had featured since last year, lined up in a side clearly picked with one eye on next month’s crucial European Championship qualifiers in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Robbie Keane and Kevin Doyle featured in a first-choice front line but Staunton was more experimental in midfield where the likes of Wolves’ Darren Potter won his third cap.
