Yakubu allowed to leave Boro

Middlesbrough striker Ayegbeni Yakubu was this afternoon given permission to talk to Everton after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

The Teessiders finally accepted the Toffees’ offer, understood to amount to £11.25m, for the 24-year-old Nigeria international after a protracted pursuit paid dividends.
