Givens angered by Stokes' no-show for Germany tie

Irish under-21 manager Don Givens has expressed his anger at Anthony Stokes' failure to report for tonight's friendly clash with Germany.

The Sunderland striker failed to meet up with the Irish squad before they flew out for this evening's tie.

Stokes cited an unspecified injury suffered against Wigan at the weekend when he was eventually contacted by Givens via mobile phone.

He had never reported the injury to the FAI and Givens says he is angry with both Stokes and Sunderland for denying another player a place in the squad.
