Ten-man Galway take point at Drogheda

Two late mistakes by goalkeeper Dan Connor saw ten-man Galway come from 2-0 down to steal an unlikely point from United Park.

The draw does stretch title-pretenders Drogheda's lead at the top of the Premier Division table to nine points, but they know it should be eleven as they looked home and hosed with five minutes to go.

Galway had Striker Stephen O'Flynn sent off on 38 minutes for a tackle from behind on Drogheda skipper Stuart Byrne.

Drogheda laid siege to the Galway goal for much of the second half with substitute Paul Keegan shooting against the bar before their lead arrived on 73 minutes when Brian Shelley pulled the ball back for James Keddy to side-foot home.

Byrne and Paul Keegan then set up Eamon Zayed for a well taken second on 85 minutes.

But it began to go wrong a minute later when Connor spilled the ball and Alan Murphy chipped home the poor clearance from 25 yards.

Connor then blundered again right on 90 minutes when he flapped Derek O'Brien's cross into his own net to give Galway a point.
