McShane, Elliot withdraw from Irish squad

Injuries have forced Sunderland defender Paul McShane and Wolves strike Stephen Elliot to withdraw from the Irish squad to face Denmark in a friendly tie on Wednesday evening.

Elliott is suffering from a knee injury, while McShane needed 10 stitches following a clash of heads in the Black Cats' defeat to Wigan on Saturday.

Manchester United's Darron Gibson has been called up from the under-21 squad as cover.
