Wigan boss Chris Hutchings handed home debuts to five players as he went in pursuit of only the second Premier League victory of his managerial career.

Hutchings – appointed as Paul Jewell’s successor at the JJB Stadium in May - named Jason Koumas, Antoine Sibierski, Andreas Granqvist, Mario Melchiot and Titus Bramble in his starting line-up.

Hutchings, whose only previous victory as a manager came even years ago when he guided Bradford to a 2-0 win over Chelsea, made just one change to the side which lost 2-1 at Everton on Saturday.

Sibierski replaced Caleb Folan in attack – while Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate named an unchanged side from that which lost 2-1 at home to Blackburn at the weekend.
