McClaren: MLS will not harm Beckham

England coach Steve McClaren is backing David Beckham to bridge the gulf between Major League Soccer and top-class international football.

McClaren flew to the United States last week for face-to-face discussions with Beckham over his fitness and readiness to feature in next week’s friendly with Germany.
