Martin signs City deal

Manchester City have handed 19-year-old goalkeeper Richard Martin a one-month contract.

The former Brighton player has been training with City recently and featured in a reserve team game at Accrington last weekend, and with Sven-Goran Eriksson so far unable to bolster his goalkeeping ranks, the Blues have offered him a one-month deal as cover for Joe Hart and Kasper Schmeichel.

With Andreas Isaksson out for at least six weeks with a fractured finger, Hart is expected to start in goal when City open their Premier League campaign at West Ham tomorrow.
