Pompey new boys set to feature

Portsmouth could field £23m worth of new signings in their Barclays Premier League opener at Derby.

Sulley Muntari, Sylvain Distin, David Nugent, John Utaka and Hermann Hreidarsson all look certain to make debuts but Pompey are also missing injured trio Linvoy Primus, Dejan Stefanovic and Niko Kranjcar.

Matt Taylor is set to feature in defence while Sol Campbell will play his first match as Pompey captain.

Manager Harry Redknapp has five top strikers available despite Andy Cole’s departure and may rotate four during the 90 minutes.
