Dundalk have gone three points clear at the top of the Eircom League First Division after a 3-0 win over Athlone Town at Oriel Park last night.

Robbie Dunne opened the scoring, while new signing Robbie Doyle netting the other two goals on either side of half-time.

Elsewhere, Shelbourne moved towards mid-table with a 5-2 win over bottom side Kilkenny City thanks in part to a hat-trick from Anto Flood.

Finn Harps, meanwhile, had a 3-0 win over Monaghan United, but the clash between Wexford Youths and Limerick 37 had to be abandoned after 75 minutes due to a generator failure at the ground.

The score was 1-1 at the time and the match will now be replayed at a later date.
