Rossi heads to La Liga

Manchester United have sold young striker Giuseppe Rossi to Spanish side Villarreal.

Rossi’s future had been the subject of intense debate for most of the summer after an impressive loan spell at Parma at the end of last season.

The deal is subject to a medical but is expected to be completed before the end of the week, allowing Rossi to effectively replace another former United player, Diego Forlan, who enjoyed three productive seasons at Villarreal before leaving for Atletico Madrid last month.
