Dyer missing for Newcastle

Kieron Dyer was not included in the Newcastle squad for tonight’s friendly against Celtic a day after manager Sam Allardyce admitted he could leave the club.

The 28-year-old England midfielder’s name was conspicuous by its absence on the teamsheet amid speculation that West Ham, Tottenham and Manchester City are ready to fight it out for his signature as family problems threaten his future on Tyneside.

Allardyce has admitted he does not particularly want to lose the player, but knows his departure is likely if he cannot resolve his situation.
