Landsdown slams Robins takeover talk

Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown has furiously denied a report claiming he is to meet up with an Eastern European consortium to discuss a potential takeover of the club.

A Sunday newspaper article says Robins chief executive Colin Sexton has held talks with consortium leader Craig Hutchinson with a view to a £40million sale of the Coca-Cola Championship club.

Lansdown admits he is keen to attract new investment but he insisted there are no plans to sell up.

He told the club’s official website www.bcfc.co.uk: “I have not agreed to meet anybody and nobody has approached me.

“I don’t deny the quotes attributed to me in the article, they are fair. However, Mr Hutchinson has not met with Colin Sexstone as the article suggests, instead he merely called Colin to apologise for the misunderstanding from the previous article.

“It is clear this latest report has been sensationalised by the journalist to sell a story at the expense and embarrassment of the club.

“I regret having taken the call from the journalist in the first place and spending my time speaking to him. Going forward we will be having no more contact with him
