Canaries sign Chelsea midfielder

Norwich have completed the loan signing of Chelsea midfielder Jimmy Smith, who will stay at Carrow Road until the end of December.

Smith, 20, spent much of last term on loan at QPR, scoring six goals in 22 starts – including one in a 3-3 draw against Norwich last October.

Canaries boss Peter Grant told the club’s official website: “He likes to push up into the opposition box and it gives us a different mix.

“He scored six goals in about 20 games for QPR last season, and he did very well for someone who had come into the Championship from reserve-team football.

“We are very pleased to have got him, because there were two other Championship clubs who wanted him, and we are pleased he has chosen us.”
