Ferguson blocks Heinze move to Anfield

Alex Ferguson has blocked Gabriel Heinze from moving to Manchester United's bitter rivals Liverpool.

The only way the Argentine defender can join the Anfield giants is to buy out his contract, which would cost him €10m.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez has been given a green light by the club's American owners to swoop for Heinze, who plays in tonight's Copa America final.
