Second chance for Hearts trialist
Hearts assistant head coach Stephen Frail is keen to have another look at Argentinian trialist Fernando Screpis.
The midfielder played for the second half of the 2-1 friendly win at Austria Vienna on Saturday night.
He will now travel with the rest of the squad to Germany on Wednesday after Hearts returned from the first leg of their European pre-season tour.
When asked how 28-year-old Screpis performed, Frail told Hearts News: “It was difficult to see. It might have been better to have seen him in the first half when the pace of the game was up there and he is doing what you’re asking him to do.
“But he showed he has got a good left foot and touch and I’m sure we’ll see more of him in Germany and we can have a better look.”
Screpis’s compatriot Damian Gimenez, 25, another midfielder, is also trying to secure a contract with the Clydesdale Bank Premier League outfit.
Hearts are still attempting to finalise the signing of Stephen Hughes after agreeing a £50,000 fee with Leicester.
And they are also in talks with the agent of Ruben Palazuelos, who plays for Spanish side Gimnastic.
