Bolton have appointed former Liverpool chief scout Frank McParland as their new general manager.

It is the first time the club have employed someone in such a position.

McParland, 48, joined the coaching set-up at Anfield in 1994 and moved up from the Academy to joint chief scout before leaving the club last week.

Bolton manager Sammy Lee said: “He’s a great lad and I know him from my time at Liverpool.

“We became close friends because of his fantastic work ethic. He’s a terrific lad to have around the place and knows the game inside and out.”

England Under-21s physiotherapist Dave Galley has also joined the club as first-team physio. The 45-year-old is currently with the team in Austria.
