Stewart secures Hearts return

Michael Stewart has clinched a surprise return to Hearts after signing a three-year contract.

The former Hibernian midfielder, who left Easter Road at the end of last season, will fly out to Austria today to meet up with the rest of the Hearts squad.

Stewart, 26, spent two years with Hibs but had a previous loan spell at Hearts while a Manchester United player. He also won three Scotland caps in 2002.

Hearts assistant boss Stephen Frail told www.heartsfc.co.uk: “We are aware of his qualities and we’re looking forward to him integrating into our squad.

“We are sure he will work extremely hard for his place in the team.”
