Longford put dent in Drogs title hopes

Battling Longford frustrated title-chasers Drogheda to fully deserve their point at United Park.

Rock bottom Longford had the dream start of the lead goal on seven minutes.

It came from the penalty spot when Dave Mooney was taken down by Brian Shelley and the striker got to his feet to shoot the spot kick confidently past Mikko Vilmunen.

But Drogheda hit back to equalise on 24 minutes when skipper Stuart Byrne was left unmarked at the back post to chest down Ollie Cahill's cross and volley past Mick Dempsey.
