West Ham were today holding discussions with Newcastle captain Scott Parker over a proposed £7m (€10.3m) move to Upton Park – but only after fighting off late interest from Tottenham.

It is understood West Ham’s chief executive Scott Duxbury was involved in late night talks with Parker’s representatives after Spurs had attempted to hijack the deal.
