Lee desperate to keep Jussi on board

Bolton manager Sammy Lee insists the club are doing everything in their power to persuade goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen to sign a new deal.

Jaaskelainen, Wanderers’ player of the season, has just one year remaining on his contract and has been linked with a move away from the Reebok Stadium, with Sunderland rumoured to be interested.

But Lee revealed the club will do their utmost to ensure the Finn lines up for them next season.

He told the club’s official website, bwfc.co.uk: “All the time there are movements going on in the background to try and ensure that we get Jussi signed up to the contract he wants.

“We are trying our hardest to make sure we keep possibly the best goalkeeper in the Barclays Premiership.

“Under the guidance of our goalkeeper coach Fred Barber, Jussi had got better each year.”
