Beth nomination withdrawn
Football Association chairman Geoff Thompson has been named as the next British FIFA vice-president after John McBeth was today dumped by the four home nations.
Thompson will be elected tomorrow at FIFA’s Congress in Zurich and will serve for four years after which he time he will be succeeded by Irish FA president Jim Boyce.
It follows the row over comments by McBeth, the outgoing Scottish FA president who had been nominated for the FIFA role, when he claimed African and Caribbean nations were tainted by corruption and greed.
