Bohemians powered into the title race as they halted St. Pat's charge at the top to go second in the table overnight after a terrific game at Dalymount Park.

In a lively first half Bohs trooped off a 24th minute goal to the good.

And a well worked strike it was. John Paul Kelly found Glen Crowe in space on the left and the low cross, delivered to the back post, was shot home by the inrushing Stephen Rice.

Saints had their chances before the break with Mark Quigley and Gary O'Neill coming close before Bohs were hard done by when Kelly was booked for diving when he appeared to have won a penalty in a challenge with Darragh Maguire.

There was no let-up of the action in the second half with Quigley chipping over before Crowe was off target with a header at the other end.

But Bohs, down to ten men after Kelly had been taken off a on a stretcher, sealed their win on 88 minutes.

Darren Mansaram was taken down inside the are and fellow substitute Mark Rossiter shot home the resulting penalty.
