Dublin extends Norwich stay

Dion Dublin has ended speculation about his future by signing a new one-year contract with Norwich.

The former England striker, 38, was a massive hit at Carrow Road last season after arriving on a free transfer in September and finished runner-up to Darren Huckerby in the player of the year awards.

There had been question marks over his future, though, with the journey from his Midlands home to Norwich a factor.

But Dublin has pledged himself to the Canaries for another season and told the club’s official website, www.canaries.co.uk: “I’m very pleased to be re-signing for a club I feel very at home with.

“Hopefully, next season can be the successful one we all want as the last one wasn’t. We have the potential, but we have to stop talking about it and do it.”

Manager Peter Grant could not hide his delight at keeping the veteran on board, saying: “Everybody saw what quality he had last season and for the first four or five months I was here he has been terrific on and off the field. He’s a fantastic professional.”
