Reading first-team coach Kevin Dillon has signed a new two-year contract with the Barclays Premiership club.

Dillon, who first joined the Royals as a player in 1991, has followed manager Steve Coppell in committing his future to the Berkshire side after a creditable eighth-place finish in their first season in the top flight.

Director of football Nick Hammond said: “Kevin has been an integral part of the football club over the last 15 years and I’ve been with him for most of that time, so I’m delighted that he’s tied himself in with Steve Coppell.

“I’m sure Kevin will continue to play an important part in the club’s success.”

Dillon added: “I’m happy it’s been sorted out, but the process has been very quick and there was never a problem.”
