Rovers game abandoned

Shamrock Rovers 1 Waterford United 1 (Match abandoned after 52 minutes)

Shamrock Rovers and Waterford will have to meet again after their game at Tolka Park had to be abandoned seven minutes into the second half.

Metal from a floodlight pylon in front of the main stand became loose in the high wind and was deemed dangerous with referee Declan Hanney deciding to abandon the game.

For the record, Blues caught Rovers cold to take a third-minute lead.

The home defence were asleep from a quick free kick from Shane Harte and Vinny Sullivan, their match winner against Galway last week, peeled off his marker to shoot past Barry Murphy.

But Danny O'Connor equalised for Rovers on 31 minutes when finishing to the net from David Cassidy's corner.
