City axe Pearce

Stuart Pearce has been sacked Manchester City, the club have confirmed.

City have acted after a disappointing season in which they flirted with relegation before finishing four points above the drop zone.

A statement on the club’s website confirmed Pearce’s contract had been “terminated” with “immediate effect”.

City chief executive Alistair Mackintosh said: “The board of directors would like to thank Stuart for his hard work and service during his six years here at Manchester City and wish him well for the future.”
