Derry's poor start to the season continued at Terryland Park as Galway almost earned their first home win of the season.

Derry midfielder Ruaidhri Higgins shot against the Galway bar on 27 minutes before the sides swapped goals before the interval.

The visitors drew first blood on 35 minutes when Mark Farren scored his first league goal of the season when lobbing Gary Rogers.

But in a lively game, Galway hit back within a minute when Peter Hutton was booked for a foul inside the area on the impressive Derek O'Brien and Stephen O'Flynn drove the penalty past Patrick Jennings.
