Drogheda decimated for Cork clash
Cork City travel to United Park to face Drogheda United tonight, with Damien Richardson’s side looking for a win that would bring them back into the title race (kick-off 7.45pm).
United’s squad is depleted with injuries as Dan Connor, Richie Baker, Aidan O'Keefe and Jason Gavin are all still out injured.
Other injured players include Declan O'Brien, Andrew Hageman, Damian Lynch, Graham Gartland, James Keddy and Shane Barrett.
Glen Fitzpatrick will also miss tonight’s game as he is suspended following his red card against Shamrock Rovers last Friday.
Defender Seán Kelly has suffered a fractured cheekbone and will be missing for City, while defender Brian O’Callaghan, midfielder Cillian Lordan and striker John O’Flynn are all carrying knocks and are doubtful.
“This is the first of three crucial games in the space of seven days, against three of the top teams on this island,” said Richardson.
“Drogheda are in the middle of a magnificent run, and that is when I like to face teams.
“We need to get over the disappointment of the result in Bray and the injury time penalty we conceded. A good result in Drogheda is the best way to overcome that disappointment.”
