Owen could face Reading

Newcastle striker Michael Owen could be involved in the squad for Monday night’s Barclays Premiership clash with Reading.

Manager Glenn Roeder will make a late decision on the 27-year-old, who has not played since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament on World Cup duty during the summer.

Shola Ameobi is in line for a return after hip surgery, while skipper Scott Parker (ankle) and striker Antoine Sibierski (groin) could also be included.

Goalkeeper Shay Given is still fighting his way back from a groin problem, while Damien Duff (ankle) is out for the rest of the season.
