Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given is out of tomorrow’s Barclays Premiership trip to Portsmouth with the groin injury he picked up against Arsenal on Monday.

Steve Harper will deputise at Fratton Park but manager Glenn Roeder hopes to have better news of Kieron Dyer (hamstring), Scott Parker (ankle), Craig Moore (groin) and Antoine Sibierski (knee).

Michael Owen (knee) and Shola Ameobi (hip) returned to action in a friendly this week but will not be considered for the game on the south coast.
