Spurs' Allen slams police behaviour
Tottenham coach Clive Allen has condemned the “disgusting” behaviour of the Spanish police during his side’s UEFA Cup tie in Seville.
Trouble flared up during Thursday night’s quarter-final first leg against Sevilla, with baton-wielding riot police clashing with Spurs fans at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.
Allen was on the Tottenham bench but was dismayed to hear stories of the methods employed by officers to tackle the problem.
He said on BBC Radio Five Live: “The alarming stories that are coming out, with women, children and disabled supporters that were struck by the police, I find that quite disgusting really and it’s very, very disappointing to hear that sort of story.”
