Darragh Maguire was the St. Patrick's hero as his goal won Setanta Sports Cup Group 2 to give them a home tie in the semi-finals.

With Wolves boss Mick McCarthy an interested spectator, St. Patrick's broke the deadlock in a tight game in the 27th minute.

Keith Fahey's corner to the back post was taken down on his chest by central defender Darragh Maguire, whose header earlier clipped the City bar, and though his first shot was blocked, the ball sat up nicely again and he drove it home from a tight angle.

Despite defeat, Cork are effectively through as runners-up as they would have to lose to Dungannon by seven goals in the last match.

Dungannon drew 1-1 at home to bottom of the table Portadown.
