Linfield progress after draw

Linfield booked their semi-final berth with this hard fought point in the battle of the first two winners of the competition at Windsor Park.

It was a first half to forget for Drogheda who survived good chances from Blues' Peter Thompson and Oran Kearney.

Of more concern, though, was an injury to key defender Jason Gavin on 31 minutes when he was taken off on a stretcher with a dislocated shoulder.

Simon Webb and Aidan O'Keeffe had chances late on for Drogheda, but Linfield were marginally the better side and held out for the point that puts them through.

Drogheda will join them if they avoid defeat to Linfield in the final match at United Park on April 16.
