Jackett required at City

Manchester City have appointed former Swansea boss Kenny Jackett as their new reserve team coach.

Blues manager Stuart Pearce has been looking to fill the vacancy since Frankie Bunn departed to work under new Coventry chief Iain Dowie last month.

He feels he has located the ideal man in Jackett, who left Swansea unexpectedly after almost three years in charge exactly three months ago.

Jackett completes City’s coaching team, which has also seen the arrival of new goalkeeping supremo Eric Steele in place of Tim Flowers, who has also joined Coventry.

Despite Jackett’s title, he will not be restricted purely to reserve team affairs, with Pearce confirming the new man will be part of the first-team set-up, which also includes official number two Steve Wigley.
