Portadown look for Setanta Sports Cup boost

Portadown will be looking to bounce back as they face Dungannon Swifts in tonight's Setanta Sports Cup Group Two clash at Shamrock Park (kick-off 7.45pm).

It was a bad week for Portadown who have lost captain John Convery and Philip Craig through injury and they were knocked out of the Irish Cup on Saturday, losing 3-1 to Cliftonville at Solitude.

Henry McStay will again be missing for the Ports due to study commitments as the Armagh club look to get this season's campaign back on track after losing their opening game to St Patrick's Athletic in Inchicore last week.

Swifts captain Gary Fitzpatrick may line out tonight for the first time since breaking his jaw last November, while midfielder Rodney McAree is still struggling with a knee injury and may not be fit for tonight's encounter.

"I'd like to have Gary back in the side," said Swifts manager Harry Fay.

"He's a key player for us, but this game may have come too soon."

Dungannon come into tonight's encounter in good form having qualified for the Irish Cup semi-finals on Saturday, beating Armagh City 2-0 thanks to a brace from Mark McAllister.
