Toffees target Intertoto spot

Everton have applied to play in the Intertoto Cup next season.

The Blues are currently seventh in the Barclays Premiership and have high hopes of qualifying directly for the UEFA Cup.

However, they will enter the Intertoto Cup if they are the highest-placed side outside of the automatic European qualification positions to have applied come the end of the season.

Blackburn, Bolton, Fulham, Middlesbrough, Tottenham and Newcastle have also applied for the tournament, which takes place next summer.
