The Football Association have decided to take no further action against Manchester City’s Joey Barton following his tackle which injured Portsmouth’s Pedro Mendes at Fratton Park 10 days ago and despite complaints from Pompey fans he had made offensive gestures.

The Football Association have decided to take no further action against Manchester City’s Joey Barton following his tackle which injured Portsmouth’s Pedro Mendes at Fratton Park 10 days ago and despite complaints from Pompey fans he had made offensive gestures.

The FA have been in contact with Hampshire Police at their invitation after the constabulary issued a statement that something “of concern” had occurred at the end of the match.
