American defender out for Newcastle

Newcastle defender Oguchi Onyewu will sit out his side’s UEFA Cup clash with Zulte Waregem in Belgium tomorrow night.

The United States international is ineligible having already played in Europe for Standard Liege before his loan move to Tyneside.

Scott Parker (knee) and Nicky Butt (toe) should be fit, while manager Glenn Roeder will make a late check on Kieron Dyer, who is feeling the effects of three games in a week.

However, Stephen Carr (thigh), Emre (calf), Shay Given (groin), Peter Ramage and Craig Moore (both hamstring), Michael Owen and Charles N’Zogbia (both knee) and Shola Ameobi are still out.
