Lennon wants to stay at Celtic

Neil Lennon is set to stay as Celtic skipper for another season at least, according to his agent Martin Reilly.

The 35-year-old’s contract expires in the summer and he has been linked with a move to Sunderland and Major League Soccer clubs New England Revolution and Toronto.

However, the Hoops – who have a Champions League last-16 tie against AC Milan to look forward to – look like earning another attempt at Europe’s Premier club competition next season due to their healthy lead at the top of the Bank of Scotland Premier League.

Reilly told the Scottish Daily Mail that Lennon, in his seventh year at Parkhead, wants to extend his stay at Celtic.

He said: “The situation quite simply is that Neil Lennon wants to stay in Glasgow and play Champions League football.

“Once we get Europe out of the road and the league is tied up, we will look at Neil’s situation in full.

“But I believe Gordon Strachan wants him to stay at Celtic.”
