Northern Ireland and Wales battled to uninspiring 0-0 draw at Windsor Park tonight.

Aaron Hughes produced a fine display for the hosts against his former Newcastle team-mate Craig Bellamy, while Wales were unable to make use of Jason Koumas’ clever play.

But the Ulstermen will feel that, after a strong performance in the second half, they deserved more. In the end, however, both sides head off for vital Euro 2008 qualifiers next month with plenty still to prove.
