Canaries release Robinson
Norwich have released midfielder Carl Robinson and he is set to sign for Canadian outfit Toronto FC.
The 30-year-old Welsh international was signed from Sunderland for £50,000 (€75,600) last January and made 48 appearances for the Canaries but has flown across the Atlantic to finalise a deal with Toronto manager Mo Johnston.
City boss Peter Grant said: “A couple of weeks ago a deal fell down for a midfielder and I said to him (Robinson) that I was looking for a different type of midfield player.
“Because he had been so good to me I didn’t want to give him a bit part so I gave him permission to speak to Toronto. The reason is because I think he has been terrific since he came here, absolutely brilliant.”
Robinson could line-up opposite David Beckham next season as Toronto begin their debut season in the MLS.
