Chelsea captain John Terry was deemed just not fit enough to play any part in their FA Cup fourth-round tie with Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.

Instead, coach Jose Mourinho opted to play Michael Essien alongside Ricardo Carvalho in defence. Left-back Ashley Cole was relegated to the bench with Wayne Bridge replacing him.
