England v Andorra set for Barcelona

UEFA have given the go-ahead for England’s Euro 2008 qualifier against Andorra to be played in Barcelona.

Following a request by the Andorran FA, whose home ground only seats 1,800 fans, UEFA have agreed that the match on March 28 can be played at Espanyol’s Olympic Stadium.

The decision was taken by UEFA’s executive committee meeting in Dusseldorf, Germany, today.

The Football Association backed Andorra’s application after the experience of playing Liechtenstein four years ago when only a tiny fraction of official England supporters were able to obtain tickets, leading to a major security headache.

The Spanish FA have also agreed to the match taking place on their soil.
