Young set to miss out

Ashley Young is unlikely to play in tomorrow’s match at Aston Villa - regardless of whether he leaves Watford to join their opponents.

Ashley Young is unlikely to play in tomorrow’s match at Aston Villa - regardless of whether he leaves Watford to join their opponents.

Villa have had a £9.6m (€14.6m) bid for the 21-year-old forward accepted, but they are unlikely to be able to complete the move in time for Young to be registered to face his former club.

And even if Young rejects the switch to Villa Park, his presence in boss Adrian Boothroyd’s starting line-up must be considered doubtful.

Dan Shittu (ankle) is rated 50-50 for the game while fellow defenders James Chambers (ankle) and Clarke Carlisle (thigh) remain sidelined along with Marlon King (knee).

Provisional squad: Foster, Lee, Mariappa, Mackay, DeMerit, Stewart, Doyley, Powell, Shittu, Smith, Bangura, Mahon, McNamee, Francis, Williamson, Jarrett, Young, Bouazza, Henderson, Priskin, Hoskins, Ashikodi.
