Rangers’ match against Dundee United will go ahead this afternoon after the Ibrox pitch passed an 8.30am inspection.

The playing surface had been exposed to torrential downpours over recent days in Glasgow.

However the rain eased off overnight and Rangers confirmed the pitch was in a fit state to stage the Bank of Scotland Premier League match.

The match, kicking off at 3pm, will be Walter Smith’s first of his second spell in charge at Ibrox, following his appointment on Wednesday.
