West Brom to let Ellington go

West Brom have accepted a transfer request from striker Nathan Ellington.

West Brom have accepted a transfer request from striker Nathan Ellington.

The 25-year-old is a target of several clubs, including former side Wigan, who had a £3m bid turned down for him earlier this month.

But it now looks as though Ellington will be on his way, with chairman Jeremy Peace telling the club’s official website, www.wbafc.co.uk: “We’ve had a long and very amicable chat with Nathan and are sympathetic to his circumstances,

“That is why the manager and the board have reluctantly accepted Nathan’s transfer request.

“However we will only sell him if we receive an acceptable offer.

“We have stated all along we are under no pressure to sell any of our players and no-one will leave the club unless it suits us.”
