Madrid contract talks continue, say Beckham camp
Real Madrid’s contract offer to David Beckham is “still on the table” and talks on the new two-year deal will resume with the club tomorrow, the midfielder’s spokesmantoday insisted.
A report from an Italian TV station claimed Real’s sporting director Predrag Mijatovic said the former England captain will leave the club in the summer.
A spokesman for Beckham rejected the claim however, saying: “We have spoken to the club this afternoon and as far as we are concerned a significant two-year deal remains on the table.
“We are meeting Real Madrid tomorrow and will sit down to discuss the deal further.”
Beckham is under contract with the Spanish giants until June but since January 1 has been allowed to speak to other clubs and has been linked with a move to the United States.
Real have been putting pressure on the 31-year-old to sign the new contract.
Sky Italia reported Mijatovic as saying: “Beckham will leave us.We will not renew his contract.”
